AI Assistant
An AI assistant that works your counter, not a chatbot
Type or dictate what you need — “add front brakes to RO 47, then text Maria for approval” — and it happens in the app, on the record, with a confirmation before anything reaches a customer.

Commands, not menus
Say it once, and it's done in the app
BayDocket's AI assistant is a command line for your counter, in plain English. "Find the Alvarez Civic." "Add a brake job to RO 47." "Apply the coolant flush canned job." "Book Mrs. Park for Tuesday at 9." Each command runs the same code the buttons run — same permissions, same audit trail, same math. The assistant holds no special powers and takes no shortcuts around the rules of your shop.
That's a deliberate difference from the AI theater showing up across shop software. This assistant doesn't invent prices, doesn't guess at diagnoses, and doesn't talk to your customers on its own. It does the typing and the clicking — the part of the job that was never the skilled part.
Guardrails
A confirmation card before anything reaches a customer
Routine estimate edits — add a line, change a price, move a job — apply immediately, because they're the same reversible edits you'd make by hand. But anything customer-facing or hard to undo stops first: sending an approval text, creating a repair order, changing a status, booking an appointment. The assistant shows you exactly what it's about to do, and waits for your tap.
And everything is on the record: the Activity tab keeps a permanent log of every assistant action, so "what did it change?" always has an answer. An assistant you can audit is an assistant you can trust with the counter.
Frequently asked questions
What can the BayDocket assistant actually do?
It works your counter on command: find a customer or repair order, add or reprice parts and labor lines, create and rename jobs, apply a canned job, assign a technician, start a repair order, change its status, book or move an appointment, and send the approval text. Every action runs through the same rules as the buttons in the app — the assistant can never do something you couldn’t.
Will it text my customers without asking?
No. Anything customer-facing or hard to undo — sending an approval text, creating a repair order, changing a status, booking an appointment — stops at a confirmation card first. You tap Confirm or Cancel. Routine estimate edits apply immediately, because they’re the same reversible edits you’d make by hand.
Can I see what the assistant did?
Yes — an Activity tab keeps a permanent log of every assistant action: what was asked, what ran, and what changed. Nothing the assistant does is invisible or off the record.
Does it write estimates or diagnose cars for me?
It doesn’t invent prices or diagnoses. It applies your canned jobs with your prices, and adds the lines you tell it to. We’d rather ship an assistant that does real work reliably than a demo that guesses at your labor rates.
Can I talk to it instead of typing?
Yes — tap the microphone and dictate. "Add an oil change to the Alvarez Civic" works spoken out loud between cars, hands still greasy.
Does the AI assistant cost extra?
No. Like texting, inspections, and payments, the assistant is part of the one BayDocket subscription — no AI add-on, no usage meter, no credits to buy.
